    The meeting with Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs shri Hansraj G Ahir was attended by JS (UT), DS (UT) PS to MOS, APS MOS and section officers connected with the MOS. All the points were discussed at length and the meeting lasted for about one and half hours. The following points were discussed as below:
    Daman & Diu both have airports, but only the one in Diu is offered for Domestic purpose. The airport in Daman belongs to Coast Guard. To allow use of the same for domestic flights also, to shorten the distance between Daman & Diu. Also to make additional runways by extending the same at both the airports.
    To increase the frequency of Air India flights from 4 days a week to all 7 days of the week.
    Anti Defection law be implemented both in Daman & Diu Municipal Councils.
    The demand for declaring Daman in CRZ –II and Diu as an Island is long pending. Declaring them as requested will only boost manufacturing activities in Daman, urbanization and Tourism in both the Districts.
    To take stringent action on the units of GIDC Vapi for releasing non treated water from their units directly into Damanganga River, which has polluted the river and also the ground water of Daman resulting in scarcity of potable water, affecting fish near the coast and beauty of the shoreline.
    To start a Degree Engineering college in Daman.
    To start a medical college in Daman.
    To arrange release of fishermen and their fishing boats detained by the Pakistani authorities.
    Group C & D recruitments for the UT to be filled only from the domiciles of Daman & Diu.
    To extended the tax holiday to the industries of Daman & Diu for a further period of 10 years.
    To start a shipping training institute in Daman & Diu.
    Administrative powers of the Administrator to be increased to Rs. 100 crore.
    TO ALLOCATE ATLEAST 50 % FROM THE REVENUE GENERATED AND TRANSFRRED TO THE GOVERNMENT EXCHEQURE BE RELEASED TO DAMAN & DIU FOR BETTER AND SPEEDY DEVELOPMENT.
    The powers of the directly elected Sarpunch to be restored.
    The Hon’ble MOS has assured that all the points will be dealt with on merits in the interest of Daman & Diu.
